I am from an ECI program in Texas and we have been to one general overview training on the AEPS. We have decided to use it and have ordered the necessary tools for our program. Our issue now, is getting a more detailed training because we do not feel comfortable yet training our staff with just the overview training that a few of us went to. What are our options? So far, I have only received a couple of responses within the state of programs willing to share in some of the cost of bringing a trainer to us. Could we send 2 or 3 people to a more in depth traing somewhere else?
Looking for other ECI programs in Texas that are interested in an advanced training on the AEPS or already have something scheduled that we could send people to.
The district I am working with uses the AEPS, and I was wondering how we can handle those children who are right at 3, when they are evaluated. For example, we have had several who did not qualify with the AEPS B-3, but by the time they were 4 and ready for an annual IEP, they were significantly delayed and should have been getting services all along by their 3-6 AEPS. Can the AEPS for 3-6 not be given when they are that close to 3, or do we just need to be using another assessment in order to qualify children for services for our own procedures?
