Jan Kristal, M.A.
Jan Kristal, M.A., is currently a temperament counselor in private practice and a faculty member of the department of psychology at the Dominican University of California, San Rafael. Author of The Temperament Perspective: Working with Children's Behavioral Styles and co-author of The Instructors Manual for Temperament-Based Parenting Classes, Ms. Kristal has taught many groups of parents and practitioners strategies for analyzing and working with children's individual temperaments.
After working with a study at Kaiser Permanente Medical Group concerning how children's temperament affects daily issues and behavioral challenges, Ms. Kristal was hired by Kaiser Permanente as the first temperament counselor in the San Rafael department of pediatrics. She has also worked as a consultant with Kaiser Northern California's Regional Health Education Department and trained other practitioners as temperament counselors on the West Coast and in Hawaii.
