Seminar Description
This seminar introduces an approach to phonemic awareness instruction that fits all reading programs! The speaker provides teachers with the knowledge they need to implement this proven curriculum in their classrooms with ease. Throughout the interactive presentation, they’ll get answers to the following questions:
- What is phonemic awareness?
- How is phonemic awareness assessed?
- What are language games, and how do students benefit from these games?
- How do I use these games with all students in my classroom?
They’ll examine the latest research on phonemic awareness and learning to read and discuss its instructional implications. The speaker shows how to use the assessment tool provided in the curriculum as a starting point and then introduces the activities that comprise the curriculum, explains how these activities help children learn, and demonstrates how the phonemic awareness curriculum fits smoothly into already-busy lesson plans.
|
| Bonus: The speaker can show how to link phonemic awareness to teaching strategies presented in other Brookes literacy titles such as Road to the Code, Speech to Print, Second Edition, and Ladders to Literacy.
