Seminar Description
How can education professionals help adolescents with learning difficulties face the rigorous academic demands of todays schools including the high-stakes tests they need to pass? In this how-to seminar, participants will get the knowledge and skills they need to improve programming for secondary students at risk for failure and to help these students become more effective learners. Theyll learn how to integrate learning strategy instruction into various types of programs for adolescents with learning disabilities, ADHD, and low academic achievement. Theyll discover specific strategies for improving student performance in organization, test taking, study skills, note taking, reading, writing, math, and advanced thinking and theyll get systematic, research-based teaching methods for helping students develop and use such strategies. |
| Bonus: Plan for a longer seminar in which teachers would spend time designing instructional plans to meet the individual needs of actual students! Teachers would be required to bring information concerning specific students (without names or other identifying information). |
