Seminar Description

By understanding students’ personalities, educators can unlock the secret to motivating and communicating with each of them effectively. This seminar explains the best ways to reach and teach every student. The key to success lies in identifying and recognizing six basic personality types: Reactor, Workaholic, Persister, Dreamer, Rebel, and Promoter. Using lively role-plays, descriptions, audio-visual presentations, and interactive exercises, teachers will learn how to accommodate each type and how to recognize students in distress early enough to prevent problems.

The concepts are equally applicable across grade levels and in special, general, or alternative education settings. Additionally, the strategies can be used beyond the classroom to bring new efficiency to collaboration with other educators, staff meetings, and parent conferences.

Following this seminar, participants will be able to:

  • describe Process Communication and its application to the classroom

  • recognize and describe the six personality types

  • define channels of communication, transference, personality parts, and preferred management styles

  • address motivational and attentional needs of each personality type

  • meet students’ needs based on personality type

  • recognize behaviors in mild and severe distress

  • invite others out of distress

  • use Process Communication to avoid and solve classroom problems
