Official Sweepstakes Rules
This sweepstakes begins on February 2, 2009, and ends on April 6, 2009. This sweepstakes is void where prohibited by law.
1. HOW TO ENTER: No purchase is required to enter or win. The first 25 people to register for the DEC Recommended Practices Institute, April 2021, 2009, and the first 50 people to register for the 2009 Early Childhood Tools Institute, April 2224, 2009, are automatically entered for a chance to win a Recommended Practices Library and a Tools Institute Library, respectively. You may also enter by writing your name, mailing address, daytime telephone number, and e-mail address on a postcard or letter and mail it to Brookes Publishing Co., Library Giveaway, P.O. Box 10624, Baltimore, MD, 21285. In order to be eligible, all entries must be received by April 6, 2009. Each person may enter only once.
2. ELIGIBILITY: This sweepstakes is open to all legal residents of the U.S. residing in the 48 contiguous states, Alaska, Hawaii, and the District of Columbia, 18 years or older. Employees and their families, subcontractors, and authors of Brookes Publishing are not eligible. The qualifications and eligibility of any participant are at the sole discretion of Brookes Publishing and are final.
3. SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS: One winner of each library will be selected in a random drawing held at Brookes Publishing's offices on April 13, 2009. Odds of winning a prize depend on the number of eligible entries received. The winner will be notified in person at the DEC Recommended Practices Institute or the 2009 Early Childhood Tools Institute if he or she is present or by e-mail message to the address used on his or her registration form no later than May 1, 2009.
The winners' names and states of residence will be posted at www.brookespublishing.com/toolsinstitute from May 4, 2009, through June 4, 2009. This information can also be obtained by writing to Brookes Publishing, Library Giveaway, P.O. Box 10624, Baltimore, MD 21285-0624 after May 1, 2009.
4. PRIZES: The winner of the DEC Recommended Practices Institute library will receive one library of eleven books (total retail value of U.S.$300.00), which includes:

The winners should allow 4 to 6 weeks from notification for delivery of the prizes, and prizes will be shipped at no cost to the winners by the most economical shipping method. All prizes are nontransferable and are not redeemable for cash.
5. PRIVACY DISCLOSURE: Sweepstakes entrants are supplying personally identifying information (e.g., name, address) to Brookes Publishing by registering for the DEC Recommended Practices Institute and the 2009 Early Childhood Tools Institute. Participation in this sweepstakes is completely voluntary, and the entrant therefore has a choice whether to disclose his or her information. Sweepstakes entrants' e-mail addresses will be used only for the purposes of communicating about participation in the Institutes or about this sweepstakes unless the registrant elects to receive promotional e-mail from Brookes Publishing. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: If by reason of a printing or other error, more prizes are claimed than the number set forth in these official rules, all persons making purportedly valid claims will be included in a random drawing to award the advertised number of prizes. No more than the advertised number of prizes will be awarded. Brookes Publishing reserves the right to disqualify any person who tampers with the entry process or the operation of the web site or who is otherwise in violation of the rules. It further reserves the right to cancel, terminate, or modify any contest not capable of completion as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, or technical failures of any sort. By entering the sweepstakes, each sweepstakes entrant assumes, and agrees to be solely responsible for, all liabilities and costs arising out of his/her participation in the sweepstakes and releases Brookes Publishing and its directors, employees, and subcontractors from the same. Income and other taxes (if any) are the responsibility of the winner. CONSTRUCTION: All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation, and enforceability of these Official Sweepstakes Rules, or the rights and obligations of any entrants and Brookes Publishing, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the state of Maryland, without giving effect to any choice of laws or conflict of law rules or provisions that would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than Maryland. In the event that any such provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable, these rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provisions were not contained therein.
